A few years back I painted a couple places in my kitchen with chalkboard paint, a small space in the pantry so I can keep track of staples I am running low on and a long wall where we write notes to each other, homework projects that are upcoming and supplies that will be needed, phone messages, "don't forget"s, etc. When the kids were small they would stay occupied with the chalkboard while I made dinner, practicing their letters or simply scribbling, drawing, or playing tic-tac-toe or hangman. There is just something about a chalkboard that begs you to write on it. Now a couple of my sons are teens and when their friends come over they leave fun messages and drawings on the chalkboard - and even get a little sad to see it was erased and replaced with another message - sorry Maddie :-/
