First, a little about Mr. Hoover. He is a 15 year law enforcement veteran. He has served as an International Police Office and worked with the United Nations Special Operations Division in Kosovo for two years. He knows his ops, his history, and how to keep you turning the pages anxiously.
If you are a lover of adventure, travel, history, weaponry, the military, or sexy special ops guys (for you men out there, read "sexy" as "highly trained and skilled") you are going to thoroughly enjoy Field of Blackbirds. Mr. Hoover blends all of them together in a beautifully smooth manner, keeping you turning pages and wanting more.
I found Field of Blackbirds to not only be exciting and captivating, but also intrinsically motivational and inspiring. There is a conversation between Felix (a guard) and Sebastian Bishop, where Sebastion is at one of the darkest moments of his young life. Felix comes to visit Sebastian after he has been sent to solitary confinement for his own safety and says,
"...You need to look at your situation through different eyes and gain a perspecitve of hope. Now I don't know how you do that. I have no recipe for success for your're situation. But if men can spend years as prisoners of war enduring conditions far worse than your wildest nightmares, and come out to be leaders, men of integrity and inspiration, then I think you can make it through three years in Trenton."
I agree Felix, thank you - I needed to hear that!
If you or someone you know enjoys the works of Tom Clancy or Michael Crichton, this book should be on their holiday list. You can buy Field of Blackbirds on Amazon for $13.99.
